Pronounced DEE-RAM, DRAM is widely used as a computer's main memory. Each DRAM memory cell is made up of a transistor and a capacitor within an integrated circuit, and a data bit is stored in the capacitor.
The main memory cell in DRAM is made up of a transistor and a capacitor. The transistor charges or discharges the capacitor to store a bit. A charged capacitor represents a logic high, or "1", while a discharged capacitor represents a logic low, or "0".
